Swiss updated their ab initio and ready entry screenings in 2011. Applicants have to take slightly modified DLR BU/GU tests in Swiss Stage 1 now. Swiss Stages 2 to 5 remained unchanged.

We take account of the modified screening process with an all new training suite and introduce SkyTest® Preparation Software for Swiss 3.0. FEAST - the screening approach at Eurocontrol and several European Air Navigation Service Providers - has been subject to a recent modification in its second stage: a new radar simulation task dubbed "DART" (Dynamic ATC Radar Test) requires applicants to guide aircraft safely and efficiently through a system of checkpoints taking certain traffic contraints into consideration.

The DLR test battery has been extended with a new test to determine selective perception aptitudes recently. "Shape Recognition Test" (VFF) requires its taker to spot a given reference shape within a complex pattern of figures.

Depending on the airline you are applying for, you will get one of the two modes the Multiple Control Test has. From now on this preparation module contains both the simple mode (with pointer) and the extensive mode (with artificial horizon and speed tape). According to our information current selections conducted e.g. by Nasair / PTC contain only the simple mode with pointer.

Furthermore, the Slalom Test has been improved for a more realistic training in the new version.

The new Multi Monitoring Test is an approach to measure the applicants' psychomotorics and sustained attention performance under a multi-tasking test configuration. The test requires to remain attentive to both graphical and acoustical action for a prolonged period of time and respond to crucial events arising.

With SkyTest® Preparation Software for ATCO Screenings 2.0 a new comprehensive and integrated software solution for attendees of assessment-centers held by European air navigation service providers is now available. Training modules included in this software were developed for a purposeful preparation for computer-based aptitude tests and psychological assessments.

The software provides training modules designed for a preparation for ATCO screenings at DLR (DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung), Austro Control, Skyguide and those conducted by the means of First European Air Traffic Controller Selection Test (FEAST).

FEAST is a rather recent approach in screening of ab initio air traffic controllers that becomes increasingly important, nevertheless. As of 2009 24 military and civil European air navigation service providers have already implemented FEAST into their selection procedures.

By April 2009 two new test modules became subject of DLR screening: Adaptive Matrices Test (AMT) and Tube in Cube Test. As several tests implemented for research purposes and conducted in brief periods only became integral part of assessment later, SkyTest® preparation software for DLR BU/GU screening has been updated and now provides training modules for these tests. Registered customers may download an updated copy (edition 2.2) of their software from their account free of charge.

Tube in Cube Test is a recognized approach in intelligence and performance measurement. In airline screenings Tube in Cube Test is conducted to determine spatial orientation skills of applicants. A cube contains a tube. Examinee is shown the cube in two positions (from two perspectives). First position shows the front side perspective of cube. Task is to determine from which perspective the cube is looked at in its second position.

At Adaptive Matrices Test you are shown a matrix of nine squares eight of which contain geometric symbols. Setup and order of symbols is subject to a logical scheme. Symbols may be overlaid in row or column. The product of two symbols overlaid must not necessarily be shown in the last square of a row or column, though. The symbols may be of different geometric kind and pattern. You are to continue the matrix in the bottom right square by mental determination of the consistent combination. A multiple choice table suggests eight solutions you are to choose from.

Along with Adaptive Matrices Test and Tube in Cube Test the recent update comprises:

Proficiency in handling of compass points and compass degrees is crucial for success at the Pilot Instrument Trainer (PIT) that is subject of third stage of Swiss screening.  For instance, a quick conversion between compass points and compass degree values or a determination of fastest turning direction between two course indications may be required there.  New SkyTest® Spatial Orientation Trainer (SOT) is designed to practice those and other tasks in a compass oriented approach. Tasks may be set either by screen display or audio devices.

Completing SkyTest® preparation software for Swiss and Cargolux screening two more training modules for tests likely to be encountered during assessment have been added: Area Comparison Test requires you to compare the sizes of irregular surfaces. Just like in nearly all modules of our software all exercises are random generated to provide a virtually infinite number of tasks.

Second module added is Symbol Assignment Test that is also integral part of Cargolux screening. Symbol Assignment Test requires you to correlate black and white symbols with colored sketches as quickly as possible. Objective of this module is to test concentration and coordination of participants in a high work load environment and self-reporting acuteness.

The new modules are integrated in all new copies of SkyTest® Preparation Software for Swiss and Cargolux screening. Existing customers may download an update free of charge from their accounts.

SkyTest® preparation software for Swiss (Stage I and II) and Cargolux screening is now available in English. The tests compiled in the software cover the diagnostic fields of relevance for screening and can be taken in predefined or customized setup for a sound preparation.

There is a new test at DLR BU/GU, we developed a preparation module for. The Memory and Recognition Test comprises four tasks: You are to learn a list of notional vocabulary, an array of matchstick graphics and a list of direct dialing numbers, which are queried afterwards. In addition, the test assigns numbers to coloured circles. You are to memorise this information as the test generates arithmetical problem in which the operands are representend by coloured circles only later on.

The module is integrated in all new copies of SkyTest® Preparation Software for DLR 1 Screening (BU/GU). Existing customers may download an update free of charge from their accounts.
